This 26-30 October the OU will be attending the UK’s biggest law fair, and we'd like you to join us.
Featuring over 50 exhibitors from the most prestigious law firms and schools and with over 10,000 students expected to attend, this is not an event to miss if you're interested in a career within the legal sector! You can sign up here, but be sure to read the important info at the bottom of this page before you do.
Who can I talk to at the fair?
At the fair, you’ll be able to connect with law firms to ask what they look for in a trainee, how Covid-19 has impacted their recruitment plans, and more. The exhibitors attending include;
- Magic Circle,
- US and international law firms,
- national firms and regional firms,
- City firms,
- leading law schools like the University of Law, BPP and Barbri,
- and important legal personalities including partners, associates, podcasters, and influencers.
You'll also have access to our Open University stand where you can talk to our expert Careers Consultants and Law Lecturers who'll help you make the most of the fair.
What can I do at the fair?
- Choose from nearly 100 presentations from experts on topics such as widening participation in the legal sector, and ‘Should I do the SQE or the GDL/LPC?’
- Book in one-on-one meetings with law firms (scary, but worth it!)
- Attend firm-specific webinars to find out about life at the firms on your shortlist
- Join conference-style panel discussions with up to 500 others
- Get involved in intimate workshops with 20 other students
- Find out about other upcoming events by firms before anybody else
What day should I attend?
The fair is taking place across the 26-30 October and each day has a special theme. While you can drop into the event whenever suits you, here are some themes we think will be particularly useful for you:
- Monday 26 October will be mostly relevant for level 1 students
- Tuesday 27 October is the best day to look round for a general browse
- Thursday 29 October will cover diversity in the legal sector
- Friday 30 October is designed for non-law students.
More detailed information will be sent to you once you have registered.
What can I do to prepare for the fair?

How do I sign up?
Before you sign up for the event, be aware that the registration form was designed for full time students. If your graduation year isn’t shown then a guide is: level 1 students should put your year of graduation as 2023 or 2024, level 2 students as 2022, and level 3 students as 2021. This will ensure that you are invited to the most relevant events but will have no other impact.
You will also notice that the form asks for UCAS points from students registering, as some law firms like this information. If you are not able to work out your UCAS points or don’t have any, then putting in 0 will be fine. Remember that your experience is every bit as important to most employers, and your performance in modules will show law firms your academic ability.
